Old Hickory
What started as a rarely used garage conversion is now one of the most distinct spaces in the home — a custom bourbon bar tailored around the client’s growing collection of favorites like Blanton’s, Elijah Craig, and Weller. The goal wasn’t just storage. It was to give the collection a proper home and turn an overlooked bonus room into a place worth spending time in.
All of the cabinetry was built and finished in-house, using frameless full-overlay shaker doors for a clean, modern profile. On the end, we crafted a custom shaker panel with a kerf detail — a subtle design choice that nods to modern baseboard styling. That same kerf was carried through the wall-side filler for a balanced, intentional finish. The cabinet doors are outfitted with Blum soft-close hinges for smooth, solid function.
Open shelving above the bar is fitted with integrated backlighting, recessed into both the tops and bottoms of the shelves, to highlight the bottles with an ambient glow that feels more like display than storage. Champagne brass pulls bring warmth and contrast to the cabinet faces.
We replaced the worn carpet with light blonde, white oak–look LVP to brighten the room and bring in a soft wood texture underfoot. Floating shelves, banded in ash, and a matching birch butcher block countertop keep the palette warm, simple, and clean.
What was once a forgotten corner of the house now holds one of its most personal and polished spaces.
