Outdoor Living
A Backyard Built to Entertain
This project began with a simple ask: a patio. But with full design freedom and a blank slate, we delivered much more, a complete outdoor living space designed for seamless indoor-outdoor flow, everyday comfort, and effortless entertaining.
The space is anchored by a fully covered, timber-framed structure that ties into the existing roofline, featuring a v-groove ceiling, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and mono points for task lighting over the outdoor kitchen. The kitchen itself includes a built-in grill, outdoor fridge, and a bar with accent lighting below. We designed the entire area on a paver system, including the main patio, kitchen area, and a circular fire pit zone with a wraparound seating wall.
To integrate the space with the home, we replaced a double window with a new sliding glass door, cut directly through brick, creating direct access to the patio. Solid limestone steps and a black metal railing lead from the door to the patio, blending function and style. Lighting was a priority, with uplights on the kitchen, step lights, path lights, flanking fixtures at the door, and post lights at the fire pit entrance. A discreet audio system supports Apple AirPlay, adding atmosphere without visual clutter.
Still in progress, this outdoor space is a strong example of what’s possible when thoughtful design meets trust in the process.
